Artificial Insemination

I) Artificial insemination with conjugal semen
II) Artificial insemination with donated semen

I) Artificial insemination with conjugal semen

What does it consist of?
During the artificial insemination the semen, previously treated in the laboratory, is placed into the uterus of the woman within the hours of the ovulation.

When is it advisable?

— Alteration of the ovulation.
— Decrease in number or in activity of the spermatozoon and/or other abnormality in these two factors.
— Difficulty for the spermatozoon in penetrating into the uterus.
— Unknown cause of infertility and sterility.
— Other causes.

Procedure gutenberg
The artificial insemination can be accomplished during the natural cycle of the woman or after a process of stimulating the ovary. Numerous studies have demonstrated that in case of stimulating the ovary, the chances of getting pregnant is significantly higher than in case of a spontaneous cycle.

The process of stimulating the ovulation consists of a hormonal treatment that is accomplished through the application of a series of medicines with the aim of ensuring the follicular growth and an ovulation that provides the ovum possible to fecundate.

For control, accompanying the medication, ultrasonography is carried out with certain frequency and sometimes blood analysis is performed in order to determine the most adequate moment for realizing the insemination.
As for the semen, on the day/days indicated for the insemination/s, the man should give a sample of semen that is then subjected to an adequately prepared procedure in the laboratory, so that the most active spermatozoa could be selected.

Afterwards the selected spermatozoa are placed into the uterus with the help of a flexible catheter.

Once the insemination has taken place, the woman is given a hormonal treatment to promote the conception.

When is it advisable?
— Azoospermia or complete absence of spermatozoon in the semen
— Decrease in number or in activity of the spermatozoon in the semen through failure or lack of desire to realize an «in vitro» fertilization.
— Chromosomal or genetic alteration.
— Hazard of hereditary transmission of other type of pathology.
— Single woman.
— Other causes.

Once the insemination has taken place, the woman is given a hormonal treatment to promote the conception.

As for the donated semen, it always proceeds from our own Sperm Bank or from another adequately accredited sperm bank. It is preserved by freezing and disposes a complete guarantee of quality, as all the donors had previously went through the necessary examinations and analysis to guarantee their eligibility.
